A faulty component in the condenser fan motor can short circuit, causing the motor to overheat and poses a fire hazard to consumers. According to the recall notice, LG has received 82 reports of incidents involving a condenser fan motor failure due to this problem, specifically described as condenser arcing and smoking. There has been smoke damage in a few incidents, but the companies involved state they are not aware of any injuries.
All of the recalled refrigerators are three door models with capacities ranging from 21 to 25 cubic feet, with a bottom freezer. They come in titanium, stainless steel, bisque, white or black finishes.
Consumers should call LG or Sears to determine whether their refrigerator is included in the recall. These refrigerators were sold at Sears's retail stores throughout the US, under the Kenmore brand and through other outlets under the LG brand from May to May Consumers are instructed to contact Sears or LG for information on obtaining a free retrofit to resolve this problem as soon as possible.

To run the ice maker test mode, first of all, pull the handle to open the ice room and remove the ice bucket. There are two styles of LG refrigerator ice makers. On this first model, this is the power button. Here in the ice room put the towel to catch water or ice that may fall when you run the test mode. Press and hold the button for about 3 seconds and the ice maker will begin to turn. If water or ice were to fall from the tray, the towel is there to catch it. The tray only holds about 4 or 5 oz of water.
On this type of ice maker, there is a tiny hole on the left side. This is a Test Button. So press and hold the button for about 3 seconds until the arm starts to turn. For the first 2 hours, the refrigerator has been plugged in, the ice maker test can only be run once. If you wish to run the test mode a second time, unplug the unit for about 30 seconds to reset the ice maker.
Without filter or when the filter installed not properly in the filter housing, water will not flow to the ice maker and water dispenser. If you recently changed the water filter and you noticed the ice maker started to leak, the problem can be with water pressure. With a new filter, water will flow more freely and when it reached ice maker it may create a splash.
Some amount of water will leak in the ice maker compartment to the very bottom and eventually will be on the floor. If you have ball-type water tap behind the fridge, try to decrease incoming water pressure to the fridge by turning at 45 or less degrees.
You need to play with it, to reach reasonable water pressure. To do this adjustment, turn water tap to 45 degrees and let somebody will push water dispenser using big cup or something like that. Another problem can be when the ice maker leaking, its when ice maker dumping ice in the bucket, some ice cubes might stuck in the tray.
And when fresh water will fill ice maker, it actually will overfill and some amount of water will spill over the tray. Inlet Valve — When the water inlet valve failedyou will not have water as well. In order to check the inlet valve, you just need Multimeter.

I have been searching for 5 days and tried everything! I give up!!!The electronic control board is the "brains" of the refrigerator that controls major components such as the compressor and fans.
If the electronic control board fails, the refrigerator can't cool correctly. It won't cool at all if the control board relay that turns on the compressor fails, which is the most common problem with a refrigerator control board other failed parts can prevent the control board from running, such as the start device or overload fuse.
Another symptom of a failed control board is that fans, lights or other components aren't working. For a reliable diagnosis, have a service technician test the electronic control board. Carefully pull the refrigerator forward and unplug the refrigerator. The refrigerator will be without power for about 30 minutes, which shouldn't affect most refrigerated or frozen foods. However, you may want to move highly perishable food to a cooler. Move the refrigerator so you can easily reach the control board cover on the back of the refrigerator.
Locate the control board cover—depending on the model, it could be on the back of the refrigerator, or inside the refrigerator on a side wall or the ceiling. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws from the control board cover. Remove the cover. Label the wires or take a digital picture before detaching them so you can reconnect them correctly later. Depending on the connector type, you might have to pry the connectors off with needle-nose pliers or release a locking tab with a slot screwdriver.
Referring to your notes or digital photo, connect the wires to the new control board. Position the cover on the control board compartment and line up the screw holes. Insert the screws and tighten them firmly.
Plug the power cord into the wall outlet. Reattach the water supply line and turn on the water valve. If the temperature in your refrigerator doesn't match the temperature you set, the problem could be the temperature control board—a service technician can give you a definite diagnosis. If the board is at fault, follow these steps to replace it yourself.
Replace the water valve that feeds water to the ice maker and water dispenser if it no longer controls the flow of water.
The door gasket seals the gap around the door to keep the cold air in and the warm air out. July 20, Quick links. Disconnect the electrical power. Remove the cover on the electronic control board. Detach the wires. Remove the electronic control board. Install the new electronic control board.

The evaporator fan is this little device back here that blows cool air into your refrigerator and freezer. Typically, it should run whenever you hear your compressor turn on. First, let's see if the evaporator fan runs in the diagnostic test mode.
To enter the diagnostic test mode on this Kenmore model, within 2 seconds, press the light switch 3 times and then press and hold it a 4th time until you hear a long beep. You're now in the test mode. You can usually find it located behind the bottom front grill or taped to the back of the refrigerator.
Repeat that step 3 more times. You've now started the evaporator fan test. If the evaporator fan doesn't run in the diagnostic test mode, then you could have a defective control board, but the problem could also be a bad evaporator fan or a break in the wiring.
Let's check the wiring first. Unplug the refrigerator and remove the screw that holds the control box. Pull the control box down and check the red wire with the white stripe for visible damage. Even if everything looks ok, there could still be a problem. We'll need to check the wires supplying power to the fan using a multimeter.
For safety, always make sure the refrigerator is unplugged before checking continuity. Remove the electronic control board. Drop down the back freezer panel and unplug the evaporator fan. To check for continuity, put the meter leads on either end of the red wire with the white stripe, one on the evaporator fan plug and the other on the control board plug.
The meter should read near 0 ohms. Next, check for continuity through the light blue wire in the same way.

If either wire doesn't have continuity, we will need to find the break. Unplug the wire harness from the ceiling, and check continuity between the ceiling plug and the control board plug on the bad wire. If that checks out, then check between the ceiling receptacle and the fan plug. If both those wires had continuity, the problem is with the fan motor or the electronic control board.
Remove the support bracket and fan motor cover to examine the fan control board for damage and replace the evaporator fan motor if the board has visible burn marks. During a bench test, the service technician will apply volts to the evaporator fan motor to see whether it runs or not. The electronic control board is not sending power the evaporator fan motor.Recently we had a power outage and the display on our refrigerator went blank.
